300 WBY
300 WBY

Hey guys I need some help. I'm going to send my 300 WBY Accumark into gunwerks and have a Huskemaw scope installed on it. I was going to send in 2 boxes of 200 grain accubond bullets to set it up. I have been debating on the Noslers or the Berger 190 VLD's. Does anyone have any experience with either of the above bullets? I know I can also buy the Noslers but not sure of the Bergers. I do not reload.

Just joined the forum today and saw this post. May be a bit late but better than never since I don't see any other replies. I shoot a 300 WBY and I do reload for it. I have had great success with the Nolser 180gr pushing them 3150 fps. I've also love the 165gr Sierra GameKing BTHP - but I don't think you can get those in factory loads. I tried the Berger's but could not get the accuracy I like. Weatherby recommends all bullets seat at least the diameter of the bullet (0.308") off the lands for pressure reasons. That's how they were designed. Berger likes their bullets anywhere from .000" to .150" off the lands. That may be the reason for the inaccuracy. You may have better luck in your gun.

You can not depend on factory ammo!!! The bullets can vary ( in seating depth) as much as 15 thousands. This is a very important thing in accuracy!!! IF yo want to shoot long range I would suggest starting reloading!! Over time it will save you $$$$ and you will have the accuracy you need for long range. I set guns up to shoot long distance! I can make most guns shoot a half inch or better at 100 yrds. IVe seen guns that shoot a half inch with factory ammo but the next box may shoot 3 inches. Factory ammo is not loaded to shoot long range. Every gun has a sweet spot!!!!!

I bought a 300 wby in the markV ultra light, a while ago and I have been working A load up. last weekend I loaded some 185 berger with 83gr. 84gr. and 85gr. of retumbo I got the best groop out of the 85gr all three rounds where touching in a cloverleafe. And also I have seen some HSM ammo in the 185gr berger for the ones that dont reload but I dont know what kind of powder thay use. I dident think thay where to bad of price for Weatherby eather. If you buy some let me know how thay shoot. Hope that helps

I dont know I dont have a conograph but the info I got from berger reloading data was 3097fps. But it is max load and a very compressed load. It dident have any sighns of pressure though.

Thanks for your help guys. I have sent my 300 WBY into gunwerks with two boxes of 180 nosler accubonds. I will shoot it when I get it back and let you know the results. I hope I like the new scope.
